Center for the Study of the Middle East

Prior to joining the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI in fall 2021, Dr. Pierre Atlas was a Professor of Political Science at Marian University and, for seventeen years, was Founding Director of The Richard G. Lugar Franciscan Center for Global Studies. He has focused much of his career in academia and as a newspaper opinion columnist on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and US policy in the Middle East. His Ph.D. dissertation (Rutgers University, 2000) examined the struggles within the Zionist movement and between Jews and Arabs in pre-1948 Palestine.
